ITALY: PRICES IN NORTHERN CITY HIGHER
(ANSAmed) - ROME - Price levels in northern Italian cities are higher than those in cities in the centre and south of the country, according to the first complete survey on price level variations in Italian cities in 2009, according to data elaborated by Italian national statistics institute ISTAT, Unioncamere (Union of Italian Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Craft and Agriculture) and Tagliacarne. The top five regional capitals in terms of high prices are in the north: Bolzano (+5.6% compared with the national average), Bologna (+4.9), Milano (+4.7%), Genova (+3.4%) and Trieste (+3.1%). The cities with the lowest prices are instead in the south: Naples (-6.2%),Campobasso (-5.8%), Potenza (-5.3%), Reggio Calabria (-5.1%) and Bari (-3.9%). (ANSAmed).
